Michael Bublé has paid an emotional tribute to Michael J. Fox, revealing just how profoundly the Back to the Future star shaped his life long before the pair ever met.
The 51-year-old singer shared a rare photo of the two Michaels together on Instagram on Saturday, 4 October 2026, with the pair looking relaxed and happy as they posed side by side dressed in black.
Alongside the sweet snap, Michael explained that the actor had been a source of inspiration since his childhood in Canada.
"Michael J Fox is one of the architects of my life," he began. "Well before I ever imagined that I would meet him, he helped build my imagination."
The 'Haven't Met You Yet' hitmaker went on to explain that watching Michael on screen had made movies feel "like magic" and helped convince him that "maybe a kid from Burnaby, Canada could dream as big as he wanted to."
His admiration for the actor has only deepened since the pair became acquainted, with Michael praising his fellow Canadian's strength, humor and character.
"Somehow, all these years later, I’m in even more awe of him," he wrote, adding that the 65-year-old star makes him "feel good about what it means to be a human being."
The moving post came after Michael J. Fox was promoted to Companion of the Order of Canada during a ceremony at Rideau Hall on October 2 – one of the country’s highest civilian honors.
The recognition celebrated not only his celebrated acting career but also his decades of advocacy for Parkinson's disease research. Fox was diagnosed with the condition aged just 29 and publicly revealed his diagnosis in 1998, before founding the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000.
Michael's touching words prompted an outpouring of love from fans, with many reflecting on the enormous cultural impact the actor has had.
"The fact that Michael J. Fox, an actor, inspired so many musicians to pick up a guitar has always blown my mind," one follower wrote, adding that John Mayer had also cited Back to the Future as an inspiration.
Another delighted fan commented: "Oh this is amazing! 2 of my favourite Michael's together! Canada's finest!!" before praising Fox’s career and his "extraordinary" contribution to Parkinson's funding and research.
Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd also showed his support, simply leaving a heart emoji underneath the post.
Michael J. Fox became a household name as Alex P. Keaton in Family Ties before reaching global superstardom as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy.
Despite stepping away from regular acting work in 2020 due to the progression of his Parkinson's symptoms, he has remained a hugely influential figure in Hollywood and recently returned to television in Apple TV+ series Shrinking, earning an Emmy nomination for his guest performance in 2026.
