RJ Mitte's mother, Dyna Mitte, has broken her silence on claims that her late son's fiancée, Kennedy Suarez, was not invited to his funeral following his death on October 12, 2026.
The Breaking Bad star's family held a celebration of life for the late actor on Friday, October 16, in Brownsville, Texas, four days after he died by suicide at age 34.
Shortly after his death, TMZ claimed that Kennedy, whom RJ proposed to last October on her 30th birthday, did not receive an invitation to his funeral.
Dyna has now addressed the report after she was asked to clarify whether Kennedy was invited to RJ's celebration of life.
Did RJ's fiancée attend his funeral?
"I can share certain things, but some things are private and are not my story to tell," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
"I don't know all of the conversations between the two of them. I can say there were struggles, but those conversations were private between RJ and me and between him and his friends," she added.
Dyna confirmed that RJ and Kennedy were not living together at the time of his death after she "moved in December, and they had only seen each other three or four times since then."
She added: "I don't know what those conversations were after she moved."
Dyna didn't clarify whether Kennedy was allowed at the funeral but admitted that she had reached out to one of RJ's friends.
"I had not spoken with her about not coming to the funeral. She had asked one of RJ's friends on the day I found my son, but at that point, we didn't even know what was happening. No plans had been made. That's all I can share about it."
RJ and Kennedy were friends for over 10 years before their relationship turned romantic in 2020.
After he proposed, he told People: "I'm thrilled to have found my person, my partner in life who makes me want to be better, no matter what we're doing.
"Kennedy is my everything and I can't wait to officially start our life together and see what adventures life takes us on next."
However, Dyna revealed in an interview with NBC News on October 15 that she didn't know the status of RJ and Kennedy's relationship at the time of his death.
"I will tell you there was some of that going on. That was part of the struggle. I'm not going to lie about that," she said when asked about a TMZ report, which claimed Kennedy gave RJ an ultimatum to choose between her and his "meddling" mom.
"We're a very tight, close-knit family, and that was weighing on him heavy. And I'm not going to go into the details why that ultimatum was being given, because it's, again, not anything I could control."
She added: "There was no decision to be made at that, but he, he, I guess, might have felt torn."
