Chrissy Metz is happy to be on a GLP-1 — and get candid about it.
The This Is Us star, 45, has long been candid about her weight journey, which was even used as a plot line in the ABC drama.
Earlier this year, she revealed after years of trying different approaches to weight loss, she finally turned to the weight loss drug, and it has earned her a much deserved level of freedom.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Chrissy shared that one of the best health benefits of being on a weight loss drug has been "being able to run around a stage," which she did for eight shows a week during her Broadway stint on &Juliet.
"The inflammation was really minimized," she said. "You know, I'm perimenopausal, I have knee issues. There are things going on."
"I think also the mental capacity to have other things to think about than obsessing about the food noise and all that, that's been super helpful," she added.
Chrissy, who stars in the forthcoming AppleTV crime drama Nocturne, also starring Steohen Graham, Liev Schreiber, and Zazie Beetz, among others, previously told People about getting on Ro: "I'm in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like I've tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me."
Maintaining it's been a "great" experience, she said: "I've enjoyed the benefits that I didn't think would come, because I was very skeptical."
"I was like, 'I'm not taking this medication. I don't wanna do this. It's not gonna work for me.' You know, all the things," she recalled. "But when I realized food noise was really a thing, that consumed a lot of my head space, I was like, 'Oh.'"
"It's so nice not to be obsessing about what I'm going to have every minute, even as I'm still consuming the meal," she continued, detailing just some of the benefits of the medication. "I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn't eat this or that."
Chrissy also addressed the criticism she might face, teasing when it comes to her, "everybody is judgy," but maintaining it "doesn't matter," because people will judge her for not being on a GLP-1 just as they will for being on one.
"I always say, they're not in my life. They're not in my doctor's notes. They're not in the hereditary issues my family has. My life is my life, and I have to do what's best for me, and that includes not listening to the comments and just talking to people who are positive and kind. I can't engage with something that doesn't make me feel good," she emphasized.
