Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have been "couple goals" for just about four decades – at least, their fans definitely think so.

Earlier in the week, Kevin, 68, took to his Instagram page with a recent snap of himself with his wife, 61, out enjoying a beautiful sunny day on the water.

The pair took a selfie on their boat, surrounded by a few trees, the crystal clear lake, and endless blue skies, and the Footloose star appropriately captioned the snap: "Sometimes we like to go where we can't be found. Even if we wanted to be found."

Their followers were quickly obsessed with the cozy snap, with one commenting on the post: "Couple goals!" another saying: "Ahh, the introverted exhibitionists! You kids look great!"

A third added: "Only place to truly feel connected is to disconnect in an isolated place. I get that," with one fan writing: "Well stay safe you two lovebirds!!"

Kevin and Kyra's relationship timeline

Kyra and Kevin met on the set of the PBS adaptation of Lanford Wilson's play Lemon Sky, and began dating soon after. They tied the knot in 1988, welcoming their son Travis the year after, and their daughter Sosie in 1992.

Travis, now 37, primarily works as a musician and composer, working primarily in the metal and alternative fields, and also creating the score for several of his parents' projects. Sosie, now 34, is an actress like her parents, appearing most notably in films like 2022's Smile and TV shows like The Closer, Narcos: Mexico and Mare of Easttown.

Speaking with People of his reaction to seeing his future wife for the first time, Kevin gushed: "I was knocked out. I thought she was amazing." Kyra, however, was a bit less interested, especially based on her impression of him as a quickly rising star thanks to Footloose. "I remember thinking, 'Oh, he thinks he's really cool.'"

"We've always been each other's biggest support and fans," she said of what makes their marriage tick, also adding of the secret to their decades-long union: "A sense of humor is crucial. He is very freaking funny."

Kevin also calls some of the more low-key and quieter moments the highlights of their time together. "To me, walking down the street together just shooting the [expletive] in the middle of the night still feels like a nice place to be."

Why the Bacons love working together

The family-of-four all work together frequently, most recently collaborating on the horror comedy Family Movie. Speaking with HELLO! previously, the couple addressed the joys of working together on such projects.

"It's a little nepotism, but it's always worth it," Kyra quipped. "They're amazing at what they do, and they know my brain. So it's nice." She also spoke fondly of getting to direct her husband as well, such as in films like Space Oddity. "It's always easy. He's a great actor, not much to tell him, you know, little tweaks here and there."
