Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are one of country music's most iconic couples, having been married for three decades. The pair first met at a gig in 1994, and went on to marry two years later before welcoming their three daughters, Gracie, Maggie and Audrey.
Tim got candid about what made his marriage so successful in an interview with Esquire, while explaining the sage relationship advice he bestowed upon his friend Taylor Swift after her wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce in July.
Tim McGraw's words of wisdom
"Just a commitment that you want it to work," he told the publication. "People are so easy to walk away from troubled times or bad times, or times where you don't get along. But going into a marriage and being in a marriage for a long time, you start to realize that, yeah, there are gonna be times you don't like each other. There are times you don't get along... but that's not a reason to walk out the door."
The country star added that he made a commitment with Faith early on in their relationship that when things got hard, leaving wouldn't be their knee-jerk reaction.
"The more you do that, that starts opening the door for that choice. It lessens the commitment, and it lessens the pride and respect that you have in your marriage," he said.
Another important lesson that Tim and Faith had learned over the years was to fall in love at every life stage and to accept that change was inevitable.

"You change as you grow older. And you change individually as you grow older, and you change as a couple as you grow older in time spent together," the father of three explained. "And so the beauty, I think, in a long marriage, is you get the chance to fall in love with a new person every so often. Because people change."
"You gotta have that foundation, and you gotta always go back to it," he added. "The longer you wait to go back to it, the further away it gets, and you can get to a point where it's unreachable."
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's empty nest
Tim and Faith's lives have changed significantly in recent years, after their daughter Maggie got engaged and their youngest, Audrey, moved out of home.
"We've lived a lot of life. So we're going in now, at 59, you're stepping into another [chapter]," he mused.
The Louisiana native shared that while it took some time to adjust to their new normal, they had "made it fun by ourselves" and liked being alone together.
Their eldest child, Gracie, has followed in her parents' footsteps and is a singer and performer. She appeared in The Great War & The Great Gatsby in April 2025, and even dueted with her dad on the track "Here Tonight".
Meanwhile, Maggie has flown under the radar and works as an intelligence analyst for Major League Baseball, and her sister, Audrey, is an actress, model and singer.
The 24-year-old was the supporting act on Brandi Carlile's Lost Time Tour in Europe in 2025, and has acted in the TV series Landman.
