Tech multi-millionaire Adam Robinson was killed on November 1 when a Learjet 60 plane crashed in Cresthaven, Florida. The 45-year-old was one of the nine people on board who died in the tragic accident.
Also aboard the plane were Adam's wife, Helen Sharp, their two children, Emma and Charlie, their nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, and another couple named Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr. The group were heading to the Bahamas to celebrate Adam's birthday.
The aircraft departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and began to experience problems at around 35,000ft. The pilots aboard were Jeff Gregory and Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras. The plane dropped 27,000ft in one minute and crashed into a busy six-lane road.
"With broken hearts, our families share that Adam Robinson and Helen Sharp, their children Emma and Charlie, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, and Anita Maria Cetina were among those lost aboard the flight that went down near Greenacres, Florida, on November 1," read a statement.
"Adam and Helen were devoted parents, and Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, were the light of their lives. Helen and Adam were the love affair that will last forever. Their warmth, generosity and gift for making people feel welcome touched so many lives. Their loss will be felt deeply by all those who loved them and who they loved in return.
"Charmi and Rachel were full of joy and adventure. They loved their people fiercely, fully and without hesitation. From the moment they met, they were all in on each other and the life they were building. They are deeply loved, and we will miss them endlessly.
"Anita Maria cared for Emma and Charlie with tenderness and devotion, and she was truly part of the family. She showed us a legacy of unconditional love and devotion.
"We are deeply grateful to the first responders, investigators, and the Palm Beach County community for their care, and to everyone who has reached out with love. Our hearts are also with the families of the pilots, who are grieving alongside us. We ask for privacy as we grieve."
HELLO! are taking a closer look at everything we know about tech boss Adam Robinson and his family.
Who was Adam Robinson?
Adam founded and ran a tech company called Retention. Raised near Houston, he earned an Economics degree from Rice University before heading to Wall Street. Following a credit-trading career at Lehman Brothers and Barclays, he pivoted to tech, co-founding the email marketing platform Robly with his brother. He also founded software firm RB2B.
The family resided in Austin, Texas, where Adam’s wife, Helen, managed her own communications agency, Influential PR, and owned the pottery studio Helen Sharp Ceramics. Following their deaths, Helen's father Dudley Sharp said: "It’s quite a blow. We had a daughter, her husband and two grandchildren on the plane."
Social media post before death
A post shared by Adam in April has now resurfaced following his death. "In my 20’s (sic), I used to work on Wall Street," he wrote on X. "People my age now (45) said they were working 70, 80, 90 hours a week for their families… but all their families actually wanted was their presence."
"They didn’t understand why their families resented how much they worked when they lived in a nice house, and their kids went to private schools," he continued. "I decided early in my startup journey that wasn’t going to be me."
"My family life gives me energy for my work. My work gives me energy for my family life," he concluded.
