President Donald Trump has no shortage of luxury residences at his disposal. Whenever he steps away from the White House to escape the demands of office, he often retreats to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach – a private abode that has served as the backdrop for numerous Trump family milestones.
The property was built by philanthropist and socialist Marjorie Merriweather Post in 1927, and features rare marble, carved stone, gold leaf and eclectic antiques. Donald purchased the 126-room property in 1985, and transformed it into an ultra-exclusive members-only club. The mansion is worth an eye-watering $564 million.
In an interview with HELLO!, Melania Trump described the 22-acre oceanfront property as a very happy house, saying, "It's where we got married, which was such a big event, so it is a very special place for us."
"We have our own special wing," Melania told us. "It's very beautiful and it’s very private. It's very comfortable because you have everything you need. It has tennis, a beach with a swimming pool, an amazing spa. You can really enjoy yourself and everything is right here. There is a beautiful patio and dining room and it's very elegant."
Mar-a-Lago served as the backdrop to Donald Trump Jr.'s wife, Bettina Anderson's bridal shower, with an enchanted garden theme. The luncheon saw approximately 100 guests gather together at the $564 million estate. The decor oozed luxury, with a colorful floral table arrangement, a three-tired cake, and an abundance of gifts.
The estate also hosts an annual Halloween party. The 2026 soiree had a jungle theme, with bright neon green lights all throughout the mansion, as well as a caviar bar, and featured a miniature pony and zebra. Most guests showed up in animal costumes, including snakes, leopards, parrots and even characters from Tomb Raider, that matched the fun theme.
Inside The White House
Meanwhile, The White House is a 55,000-square-foot residence that boasts 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms spread across six levels. The East Wing was reportedly demolished in October 2025 to allow for the construction of a 90,000-square-foot ballroom, a project estimated to cost around $200 million.
HELLO! understands that Melania Trump worked every day with her team that was based in and operating daily out of the East Wing prior to its demolition. Since then, the Office of the First Lady has relocated to the ground level of the Executive Mansion, where her staff is working out of the China Room, the Vermeil Room, the Library and the South Mezzanine.
Donald Trump's family
Donald and Melania got married at a Florida church on January 22, 2005. The president was previously married to the late Ivana Zelnickova from 1977 to 1990, and they share three children, Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric. His second marriage was to actress Marla Maples in 1993, and they welcomed a daughter named Tiffany before getting divorced in 1999.
