It seems Lara Croft will be taking part in this year's Olympics, after Angelina Jolie agreed to be one of the final torchbearers for the Athens games.

The Oscar-winning actress has accepted a request for her to carry the torch into the Greek capital. The 28-year-old will join the international relay in Athens on August 12, the day before the lighting of the permanent Olympic Flame.

"I would consider it an honour to run with the Olympic torch as a gesture of hope for refugees and to express my active support for sport and world peace," said the Tomb Raider star. As a United Nations goodwill ambassador, Angelina is also involved in efforts to help refugees in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The 2004 torch is to be lit in Olympia, site of the ancient Olympics, before being taken on a four-month journey to every other city that has hosted the games. When it arrives back in the city, with a little help from Angelina, it will have circled the Earth and covered all five continents.
