If you are anything like me, you’ll book a night away with the intention of exploring the local area, taking in the sights and checking out the local bars and restaurants. But as soon as you open the door to your hotel room, all you want to do is jump into those fresh sheets and unwind doing absolutely nothing…

That’s exactly why I loved The Runnymede on Thames, just a stone’s throw away from Windsor. This luxury hotel and spa offers the perfect excuse to stay in bed and not move. Yep, that’s right! As if you ever need an excuse to do that anyway? The hotel encourages you to sit back and relax, watching a medley of your favourite blockbuster hits as part of their Fizz and Film package, which gives guests the opportunity to snuggle down in-room with popcorn, a bottle of prosecco and a library of unlimited films to choose from – my ideal weekend away!

The moment I arrived at the hotel, on the stunning banks of the River Thames, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. The beautifully modern grand entrance is made quirky with a collection of rubber ducks, appropriate for its riverside location, and the bar area in the lobby remained bustling throughout my stay. My room boasted a stunning view of the river that made simply just being there relaxing.

I was lucky enough to experience the ESPA aromatherapy facial that cleansed, exfoliated and moisturised my skin, leaving my face glowing. From age-defying facials to energy boosting body wraps, I would highly recommend booking in for a treatment as the therapists will be sure to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

There are two restaurants in the hotel; the LeftBank restaurant which consists of informal buffet dining with a stunning view of the Thames or The Lock Bar and Kitchen which serves home cooked food and seasonal favourites. Dining in The Lock Kitchen was a fantastic experience, from perfectly presented starters to the crumble of dreams; it did not disappoint and is well worth a visit.

In the morning, I woke up to breakfast fit for a queen, from eggs made any which way, to homemade smoothies, warm pastries, pancakes and an assortment of granola. Breakfast could not have been anymore luxurious and accommodated for all dietary requirements.

I would highly recommend The Runnymede On Thames for those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. My stay left me feeling revitalised – I even managed to watch some of the latest films that have only just been released. This is the perfect getaway for those who are looking for a perfect home away from home.
