Tina Turner marries her boyfriend of 27 years on the shores of Lake Zurich

Tina Turner has tied the knot with her long-term partner Erwin Bach, it has been revealed. The 73-year-old singer and German record company executive Erwin, 57, exchanged vows on the shores of Lake Zurich in Switzerland.

The happy couple will celebrate their marriage with a Buddhist ceremony this weekend in Zurich, where Tina has lived for the past 15 years.

Around 120 guests, including Oprah Winfrey and David Bowie, will attend a party at Tina and Erwin's Kusnacht home, the Mail reports.

According to Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag, Tina will wear a gown created by the Italian couturier Giorgio Armani, and has requested that all the guests wear white to the celebration.

The couple have also sent out letters to neighbours and local residents apologising in advance for any noise.

Tina and Erwin first met an at EMI record label party in 1985, although they remained friends for a year before they started dating.

Despite the age gap, the couple have been blissfully happy — but it seems they have only just come round to the idea of getting married.

In a 2006 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the superstar singer said, "People often ask me why I don't marry. I have love. I have a good life. I don't need to interfere with that.

"For some people, marriage means 'You're mine now'. That can be the beginning of the failure of a relationship…

"Neither Erwin nor I feel the need to get married. We've been together for 18 years. What would marriage give me that I don't already have? Marriage would be about pleasing the public. Why do I need to please the public if I'm already pleased?"

Tina is a mum to two sons — Craig, from her relationship with the late saxophonist Raymond Hill, and Ronald from her volatile marriage to Ike Turner.

She and Ike were married for 14 years, and following their divorce in 1978, Tina revealed she had suffered domestic abuse at the hands of her husband in her memoir I, Tina.
