Mr Selfridge returned to ITV on Sunday night with the nuptials of Harry Selfridge's eldest daughter Rosalie to Russian aviator Serge De Bolotoff in a lavish ceremony. Rosalie, played by Kara Tointon, walked down the aisle in a stunning vintage-inspired wedding gown with a long lace veil that she has described as a "magical costume".
The scene was Kara's debut in the ITV drama, and the 30-year-old said it felt like it could be her real wedding.
"The whole wedding was stunning. It felt like I got married for real. I don't feel like I could top it," she told The Mirror. "I loved the church. I walked up the aisle about a hundred times – I feel like I don't need to do it for real now."

As the wedding was set in 1919, it was important to source a wedding dress that reflected the fashion of the era. Kara revealed that she tried on a wedding dress that Meryl Streep had previously worn in a film, but the final dress was a bespoke design.
The long-sleeved gown featured lace detailing and an embellished waistband, which the bride accessorised with a statement necklace and pearl earrings. The bridal look was set off by a vintage flower-adorned headpiece and a large bouquet.

The nuptials, filmed at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge, were even more realistic as Kara was joined by her sister Hannah Tointon as she prepared to say "I do". The 27-year-old plays Kara's on-screen sister Violette in the third series of Mr Selfridge, something which Kara has described as "bizarre".
“It was slightly bizarre and did take some getting used to because normally you see your family in the context of being at home.
"Once we got used to it, it was so comfortable and enjoyable and we had such a good time together," Kara revealed.
