While the eyes of the world were on Peter Phillips as he married Harriet Sperling, another royal wedding took place the very same day in Lower Austria.
Countess Marie Wilczek and Lukas von Lattorff, both 26, waited weeks to share the first photos of their nuptials after tying the knot in the parish church of Stockerau (Lower Austria) on 6 June. The daughter of Count Hans-Christian von Wilczek and Katharina von Hartig and the son of Philipp von Lattorff and Princess Tatjana of Liechtenstein are fourth cousins through the Wilczek line.
The royal bride looked beautiful in a flowing wedding dress with sheer long sleeves and an illusion neckline, completing her look with a sapphire tiara that secured her lace-trimmed cathedral veil in place.
On closer inspection, the sapphire and diamond headpiece was originally made as a convertible necklace and gifted to Countess Marie Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau by the government when she married Hereditary Prince Hans Adam of Liechtenstein in 1967. She immediately adopted the gift as a tiara and was pictured wearing it at the Ball at Schloss Vaduz the night before her wedding.
Princess Marie went on to wear the Sapphire Necklace Tiara in both versions throughout the 1960s, but it then went missing from public view, The Royal Watcher noted.
With her mother Princess Tatjana preferring to wear the grander Habsburg Fringe Tiara for her wedding to Philipp von Lattorf in 1999, the sapphire piece was reportedly tucked away in the royal family's private collection for decades until Countess Marie's recent nuptials.
The happy couple's wedding mass was celebrated by Father Martin Rauch before a wedding reception attended by close family and friends.
Primary school teacher Marie and Strategic Growth Analyst Lukas have kept their relationship out of the spotlight, but they recently made a loved-up appearance as an engaged couple at St Florin Cathedral for Princess Marie Caroline's wedding with Leopoldo Maduro Vollmo. Mastering the colour-clash wedding guest outfit, Countess Marie wore a bubblegum pink belted dress with a matching fascinator and lime green heels that tied in with her fiancé's tie.
As well as a floral embroidered bag, the accessories included Marie's sparkling engagement ring.
