Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may have New York City on lockdown, but the one element of their big day they will be forced to relinquish control over is the extremely hot weather. With thunderstorms and dangerously high temperatures threatening to wreak havoc, guests will have to battle highs of up to 46 degrees Celsius.
The 36-year-old pop singer and her NFL superstar fiancé, also 36, decided to tie the knot in a lavish ceremony at Madison Square Garden, an arena with a maximum capacity of 22,000 people.
Allegedly inviting 1,000 guests to watch them exchange their vows, the famous couple will need to ensure their venue is kitted out with air conditioning and plenty of ice as the city melts outside.
Ahead of the highly anticipated ceremony, which is expected to see the likes of Graham Norton, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, and Ed Sheeran in attendance, the National Weather Service forecast office for New York issued a warning after "dangerous, record-breaking heat" was recorded.
The office shared on X: "Dangerous heat continues today. Max heat index values are expected to reach 110-115 (43.3- 46 C) for most, which is higher than yesterday. This level of heat can be deadly for those without adequate cooling and hydration."
Reaching highs of over 40 degrees Celsius, the weather forecaster also indicated there was a possibility of severe thunderstorms that could bring with them damaging wind gusts.
Already ahead of the weather, the soon-to-be married couple seemingly preempted the heat and ordered portable air conditioning units to be delivered to their venue, which were seen entering the building by CNN earlier today.
What do we know about the Swift-Kelce wedding?
As America wakes up to add the finishing touches to what is being described as the "wedding of the century," Taylor and Travis will have revelled in their last morning together as a non-married couple, after celebrating their love with a star-studded rehearsal dinner.
Kicking off the celebrations, the singer and football player welcomed 100 guests to a sit-down rehearsal dinner before walking down the aisle.
Among those spotted coming and going from the event were Taylor's best friend Selena Gomez, her longtime producer Jack Antonoff and Jack's ex, writer and actress Lena Dunham. Videos posted to social media revealed the couple chose to decorate their dinner space with peach-coloured blooming flowers and green foliage.
Once the night came to an end, the bride-to-be was spotted returning home at around 12:30 am on Friday.
While she relaxed at home, preparations continued, and a major clue about one of the night's mystery performers was revealed as workers were seen carrying Bon Jovi equipment cases into Madison Square Garden.
Among the cargo was a case labelled 'Bon Jovi Wardrobe,' fuelling speculation that the New Jersey rock icons could perform during the celebrations. Stevie Nicks is also rumoured to be performing.
