The popular British actress Leslie Ash is said to be recovering after being hospitalised with the nerve disease MSSA. The Men Behaving Badly star contracted the illness after being admitted to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital with a broken rib and collapsed lung on April 24.

Leslie is currently being treated at Charing Cross hospital, where doctors say she is making good progress. When she first fell ill, the 43-year-old lost all feeling below the waist and had to be admitted to intensive care.

Doctors have confirmed she is suffering from MSSA, or Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus Aureus, which is different from the antibiotic-resistant "hospital superbug" MRSA.

"The coodination and feeling in her legs has continued to improve in the last 24 hours," said the actress' spokesman. "Her husband, Lee Chapman, and sons remain at her bedside. They are encouraged by the good news of her progress."

Leslie's previous hospitalisation provoked reports she had been attacked by her partner, but the actress insists her injuries were not caused intentionally.
