Speedy Myleene burns rubber in Cardiff

A celebrity go-karting event brought high-octane drama to Cardiff as a host of famous names including Myleene Klass, Goldie Lookin' Chain's Maggot and former Boyzone singer Shane Lynch raced each other around a course in the Welsh capital at 65mph.

Along with other amateur drivers, 28-year-old Myleene, who presents Classic FM radio's Sunday breakfast show, had signed up to join in the fun at the 2006 Red Bull Track Attack event.

The former Hear' Say singer was in a fun mood, larking about as she donned a helmet and F1-style protective gear. Then, cheered on by thousands of eager spectators, the plucky TV presenter revved up her engine and set out from the start line for a heat with Footballers' Wives actor Ben Richards.

Half way through a promising first lap Myleene had an upset, however. Luckily for the classically trained pianist - whose hands are insured for more than a £1 million - a hospital checkup determined that no serious harm had been done.
