Miranda Lambert gave fans plenty to work with when she shared an Instagram photograph posing with a kitchen knife and drinks cans rolled into her blonde hair.
The country singer, 42, stood behind a chopping board covered in sliced onions, holding the knife upright beside her face while resting her other hand on her hip.
"Caption this," she wrote alongside onion and knife emojis, prompting followers to fill the comments with jokes about her formidable onstage persona.
Miranda wore a white T-shirt knotted at the waist with blue jeans, accessorising with a fine gold necklace and rings. Her burgundy manicure added a touch of colour, while the improvised rollers gave the kitchen photograph a distinctly retro feel.
Fans recognise Miranda's mischievous side
Followers quickly picked up on the humour, offering captions that would not have looked out of place alongside some of Miranda's most memorable songs. "When he asks when dinner will be ready," one joked.
Another referenced her hit Mama's Broken Heart, writing: "We've evolved from cutting bangs with rusty scissors, I see."
A third brought another country music favourite into the conversation: "I can take you from a rooster to a hen with one chop. Dolly would be proud."
Meanwhile, another follower connected the photograph to Miranda's new music, mentioning Cuttin' Onions before adding: "Love you & love the album."
The comments leaned into the same mischievous theme, with fans treating the kitchen scene as an invitation to have fun with the singer's no-nonsense reputation.
The new music behind the kitchen update
The photograph arrived shortly after Miranda released Crisco on October 2. The album includes Cuttin' Onions, giving the chopping board and onion emojis a timely musical connection.
Produced with Jesse Frasure, the 12-track collection brings country storytelling together with disco influences. Alongside the playful titles are collaborations with Chris Stapleton and Ella Langley, plus a version of Jim Croce's I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song.
"I've always loved every corner of country music," Miranda explained in the announcement accompanying the album.
She described making the record as an opportunity to follow different musical instincts, allowing dance songs and more reflective material to sit together.
Miranda's collaboration with Ella Langley
One of the album's collaborations reunites Miranda with Ella on its opening track, Snakeskin Boots.
Their partnership extends beyond singing together. Miranda also co-produced Ella's album Dandelion and co-wrote and co-produced her hit Choosin' Texas.
Discussing their latest duet in a statement released ahead of the album, Miranda said: "We wrote 'Snakeskin Boots' with Ella in mind. She and I are kindred spirits."
The song draws on vintage Western influences, with its story centred on two women making their escape. Miranda explained that working with Ella had revealed how much they shared musically, particularly their affection for retro sounds.
A surprise guest at her Nashville show
The album release also followed a special performance at Nashville's new venue, The Truth, on October 1. Chris Stapleton joined Miranda for A Song To Sing, providing a surprise moment during a set that brought together new material and songs from across her career.
Miranda had previously spoken about why Chris was the right person for the duet, writing on her Instagram Story: "Chris understands the emotion of this song from the inside out."
