Asked outright by Entertainment Tonight whether he still loved Hilary, he replied, "Absolutely… I don't know who she is today, she doesn't know who I am today, but I would sweep her off her feet if I ever got a chance again and fix what I did wrong."
Aaron, 26, added, "I'm going to do everything in my power to fix those relationships in my life just like I want to fix the relationship I had with the love of my life. I'm not gonna give up on Hilary… ever."
Aaron and Hilary dated on and off between 2000 and 2003, when they were barely teenagers. He was famously caught in a love triangle with Hilary and Lindsay Lohan, who he was rumored to be dating at the same time.
Last month, Aaron took to Twitter to let Hilary know how much he misses her.
"I'll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her," he wrote. "I don't care what ANY of you think."
In a separate message, he said, "Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever… Like me…." When a fan guessed he was referring to Hilary, he responded, "Sure am."
Aaron admitted to ET that the mum-of-one has yet to respond to his public pleas. "That wasn't meant for the media or anybody like that," he said of his tweets. "I didn't think about it really.
"I wasn't really looking for a response either. I'm sure she got the message."
A reunion between the former sweethearts seems unlikely. In January, Hilary split from her husband Mike Comrie after three years of marriage, but have remained close for the sake of their two-year-old son Luca. Their numerous sightings have led to speculation that the couple are close to getting their romance back on track.
