Rochelle Humes celebrates turning 26

Share this:

Happy birthday, Rochelle Humes! As The Saturdays singer celebrates turning 26, HELLO! Online takes a look at what the stars have in store for Rochelle, and you…

This is what Rochelle, who is a Pisces, can be expecting today:

The Equinox is all about the Sun's entry into Aries. When that occurs over the coming weekend, the astrological emphasis will shift significantly away from your sign. But before that happens, there is to be a Solar Eclipse at the very last degree of Pisces. The last degree of any sign, belongs as fully to that sign as does the first degree or, indeed, any other degree. The cosmos has a gift in store for you now. It is for you and nobody else. It may look a little odd at first but you should neither fear it nor reject it.

Of Norwegian and Sierra Leonean descent, Rochelle Eulah Eileen Humes (nee Wiseman) was born on 21 March 1989 in Barking, East London.

Her mother Roz raised her alone – a topic the songstress has never broached, except to tell HELLO! simply: "My dad has never been around" - and as a child her mother used to write notes to her school, explaining her absences for auditions by saying she'd been for a dental appointment.

In 2001, one of the auditions for which she missed school paid off. Rochelle, then 12, was picked to join pop group S Club Juniors during a reality show.

Over the next four years, the youngsters had six Top 10 hits. The band ended in 2005, and Rochelle began modelling and entered a Miss England contest, finishing third before being called up to try out for a new girl group.

Rochelle was excited to find out that her former S Club colleague Frankie Sandford was also in the running, and the pair soon found themselves alongside Una Healy, Mollie King and Vanessa White as the new girl band, The Saturdays.

By 2013, Britain's sweethearts had racked up twelve top ten hits. If This Is Love, their debut single peaked at number eight, and their 2008 debut album Chasing Lights went platinum. This was followed in quick succession by Wordshaker and On Your Radar.

Amid the excitement of fame, Rochelle began seeing JLS heartthrob Marvin Humes, a friend since their teens. They split for a brief period, but soon reconciled, and on a New Year's Eve holiday to the Maldives, Marvin popped the question with a dazzling heart-shaped diamond ring.

Wishing them well on their big day in 2012 were X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos, as well as singers Olly Murs, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke, Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts and several members of One Direction, and by November that year the newlyweds were expecting their first child.

In May 2013 they welcomed daughter Alaia-Mai, and in 2015, spoke exclusively to HELLO! on their plans for a big family - "I want another one, I really do. If I had my way, we'd have one every year", revealed Marvin.

"He's not even exaggerating," quipped Rochelle.
