Twitter user asks James Blunt why he was invited to Prince Harry's Invictus Games – his comeback is the best

James Blunt is known for his hilarious comebacks on Twitter, so when one social media user asked why he was invited to perform at Prince Harry's Invictus Games earlier this month, James had the perfect response.

The You're Beautiful singer retweeted a post from one user called Laura, from West London, that read: "Who invited James Blunt to the Invictus Games?"

James swiftly replied with: "Prince Harry. By text. BOOM!"

Prince Harry and James Blunt served in the army together

It's no secret that the singer, 42, and Harry, 31, are longtime friends. The pair come from similar backgrounds, having served in the army together.

The Prince, who has regularly supported James at gigs in London and abroad, also asked the musician to perform at the 2014 Invictus Games closing ceremony in London.

James' most recent performance was on Sunday night at the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations at Windsor. After singing, the chart-topper met the Queen and shook hands with her.

James' fans were quick to support him, as one follower replied to Laura: "That would be former Captain James Blunt of HM Armed Forces. Show some respect to the man."

Another commented: "Well played sir, well played."

James has been entertaining Twitter followers since he joined the social media site in 2009. His witty comebacks never fail to have fans in stitches, especially because he calls out his critics.

James took the Invictus Games by storm in Florida

He recently reposted one that read "I cannot stand James Blunt" to which the Goodbye My Lover singer replied, "Have a seat. I have that effect on people."

"No one really likes James Blunt right?" asked another Twitter user. James responded: "Yeah, I bought those 20 million albums myself."

The University of Bristol music graduate has also poked fun at his career and songs, recently posting: "For Lent, I've given up music. There is a god."

"To be honest, I don't even really like music," he also tweeted, scoring 12,000 likes for the post.
