Prince Harry is returning to the UK this week – and there's one question on everyone's minds.

Will the Duke of Sussex see his father, King Charles, and older brother, Prince William, for a long-awaited family reunion?

William and Harry were once the closest of brothers and were officially classed as the "best man" at each other's weddings. The joint sight of them walking behind the coffin at the funeral of their mother, Princess Diana, in 1997 is one that many people will remember.

Together with their wives, Meghan Markle and Kate, they were once known as the "fab four", showing a glamorous and popular side to the royal family.

Flash forward to 2026, and Harry hasn't seen William since 2024 or spoken to him since long before that, with tensions rising after Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary and his biography, Spare.

The father-of-two briefly reunited with King Charles last September, and the pair are said to "speak frequently" – but further tensions emerged on Monday over miscommunication about whether Harry would stay at Buckingham Palace during his visit.

While the royal family tends to deal with things privately, Harry has spoken about his fallout with his brother and family on numerous occasions.

Read on to see everything Prince Harry has said about the King and Prince of Wales – and we'll take you right back to the start…

In June 2019, Harry and Meghan split from William and Kate's Royal Foundation to set up their own charity arm instead.

It was the first sign that something was wrong between the "Fab Four", just a year after Harry and Meghan tied the knot at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

That October, Harry addressed rumours of a rift between himself and William for the first time in a documentary called Harry and Meghan: An African Journey

Harry said he and William had drifted apart and were on "different paths" and that "inevitably stuff happens" in royal roles. He added: "As brothers you have good days, you have bad days" and emphasised he still loved him "dearly".

Harry and Meghan sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in February 2021. It came after they had stepped down as working royals the previous year and moved to the US.

Harry said that King Charles had "cut him off financially" in 2020 and he used his inheritance from Princess Diana to pay for his security.

A spokesperson for Clarence House responded at the time: ""The Prince of Wales allocated a substantial sum to support them with this transition. That funding ceased in the summer of last year, and the couple are now financially independent."

Harry also said that his father and stopped taking his phone calls in the lead-up to their announcement about stepping back as senior royals.

He said: "When we were in Canada, I had three conversations with my grandmother and two conversations with my father, before he stopped taking my calls."

When Oprah asked Harry how they were getting along now, the Duke said there was "a lot to work through," adding that he feels "really left down" since they have been through something similar.

Nonetheless, the Duke went on to say that he will "always love him" and will continue to make healing their relationship "a priority", while referring to Charles' role as Prince Archie's grandfather.

In 2023, Prince Harry released his memoir, Spare, discussing both his father and his brother in depth.

In one passage, he claimed that William assaulted him during an argument over his wife, Meghan, in 2019.

Harry wrote: "It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor."

In another passage, Harry recalled a conversation he had with his father and brother at Prince Philip's funeral in 2021, with the King telling his sons: "Please boys. Don't make my final years a misery".

The Duke told ITV's Tom Bradby that he didn't have "any intention to harm" or "hurt" Charles or William with his memoir, but accused members of the royal family of "getting in bed with the devil" over their links with the press.

He said: "Those certain members have decided to get in the bed with the devil, right? To rehabilitate their image. If you need to do that, or you want to do that, you choose to do that - well, that is a choice. That's up to you.

"But the moment that rehabilitation comes at the detriment of others - me, other members of my family - then that's where I draw the line."

Speaking to CBS, he revealed he wasn't currently speaking to either Charles or William.

When asked if he "texts" his brother, Harry said: "Currently, no, but I look forward to us being able to find peace." Of Charles, he said: "We haven't spoken for quite a while."

After King Charles's cancer diagnosis was revealed in 2024, Harry spent 45 minutes with his father at his London royal residence, Clarence House.

He discussed their meeting and current relationship while speaking to Good Morning America host Will Reace to mark the start of the Invictus Games.

Harry said: "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could. Look, I love my family. The fact I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I'm grateful for that."

"Throughout all of these families, I see it on a day-to-day basis, the strength of the family unit coming together," Harry said.

"So, yeah, I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together. I see it time and time again, and that makes me very happy.

"I’ve got other trips plans that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, and so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can," he added.

In a BBC interview in May 2025, Harry told the BBC he would "love" to reconcile with his father but "couldn't see a world" in which he would bring his family to the UK.

He said: "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has."

Harry also revealed that King Charles was no longer speaking to him, mainly because of the ongoing row over his "security" arrangements.

He conceded that any reconciliation would be in his family's hands, adding: "If they don't want that, that's entirely up to them."

Mentioning his brother, he added: "I can forgive my family's involvement, my father, my brother and my stepmother, I can forgive. I can forgive the press to a large extent as well, for so many things that have happened."

In September, Harry and the King reunited for a brief meeting at Clarence House while the Duke was in the UK for charity projects.

Prince Harry has told ITV News he "will always be part of the Royal family"

Prince Harry gave a rare interview to ITV while visiting Ukraine this April, saying he will "always be a part of the royal family".

In a rare face-to-face interview, Harry was asked if he recognised the phrase "not a working royal", to which he responded: "No."

He told royal editor Chris Ship: "I will always be part of the royal family and I'm here working, doing the very thing I was born to do and I enjoy doing it. I enjoy being able to do these trips and support the people that I've met before and the friends that I've made."

However, he declined to fully open up about his family, only responding "I don't think so" when asked if his visit would impact King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit to the US the following week.
