Diane, 40, and Joshua, 38, only recently moved into a home in New York City together – the actress had previously split her time between Paris and Vancouver, but she relocated in March to be closer to her partner.
Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger have split after ten years together
"[Moving] was a major commitment," she told Net-a-Porter's The Edit at the time. "That's a big step into adulthood for me, to allow that time for someone else in my life."
The couple were last seen together on Saturday, the day after Diane celebrated her 40th birthday, walking through New York’s Soho district. Then, on Monday, she shared a telling Instagram post of a Jimi Hendrix quote which read: "The story of life is quicker than the wink of an eye. The story of love is hello and goodbye."
Diane and Joshua started dating in 2006 following her split from her husband of five years, French director Guillaume Canet.
Representatives for the couple said they will 'remain friends'
In 2014, Joshua opened up about why the longtime couple had chosen not to tie the knot. "I can tell you why we're not married: We're not religious," the Dawson's Creek alum told Glamour.
"I don’t feel any more or less committed to Diane for not having stood in front of a priest and had a giant party. We are both children of divorce, so it's hard for me to take marriage at face value as the thing that shows you've grown up and are committed to another person. But it may change at some point. We may get married."
