As one of the kindest UK couples, Sir Rod and Lady Penny's generosity really shone through during this year's pandemic.

The rocker helped raise almost £600,000 for the NHS by auctioning off some of his personal mementoes including a signed Celtic top, a Cartier watch and a picture of him receiving his knighthood; Sir Rod was knighted for his services to music and charity.

He also surprised one trainee nurse in Wales with a £5,000 cheque, after she spent weeks in a coma after contracting coronavirus.

"Sir Rod and Lady Stewart's humanity, goodwill and generosity have made such a huge difference to the lives of teenagers and young people with cancer." - Kate Collins, Chief Executive of Teenage Cancer Trust

Last year, to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the Maggie May musician also serenaded 300 veterans with his classic hit Sailing on board The Royal British Legion Ship. At the time, Rod told HELLO!: "Today was so important to me. If it wasn't for these guys we could well and truly be under the jackboot as everybody knows."

Last year, Penny and Rod also hosted an exclusive dinner party and auction in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, where one of the bids was a private dinner with the celebrity couple at The Ritz.

Kate Collins, the charity's Chief Executive, told HELLO!: "Sir Rod and Lady Stewart's humanity, goodwill and generosity have made such a huge difference to the lives of teenagers and young people with cancer. Their kindness has meant that young people going through the hardest of times have had somebody to care for them every step of the way. We can't thank them enough for all they've done, and their place on this List is so very well deserved."

Lady Penny is also vice-president of sight loss charity, the Royal National Institute of Blind People, and has also supported Breast Cancer Care, Caudwell Children and Kidscape among other charities.

"She is such a generous, kind, beautiful person inside and out." Ian Waite, Penny's former Strictly Come Dancing partner

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Ian Waite, who was partnered with Penny in the 2007 series of the BBC show, also told HELLO!: "When I danced with Penny on Strictly, series five, she was so caring and motherly. Often she would invite me to dinner with her, Rod and the family after our rehearsals. Penny has remained a really good friend sharing Christmas parties and special moments. She is such a generous, kind, beautiful person inside and out."
