Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager have weighed in on Taylor Swift’s shock split with Joe Alwyn, praising their decision to call it quits after six years "courageous for having the difficult conversation".
Despite six years of being one the cutest pairings ever, it was reported over the weekend that the couple called time on their Lavender Haze due to apparent differences in their personalities.
Hoda and Jenna cut straight to the chase on Monday’s NBC show, with the Today hosts commending them for having 'the chat' before they started resenting each other.
Jenna, 41, introduced the segment with: "The Swifties are sad because there was some breaking news over the weekend – Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have called it quits."
Hoda chimed in with: "They were dating for a long time, six years. It’s hard to know when the right time is to break off a relationship. I think having a conversation that is hard is a super hard thing to do.
"Sometimes, it’s easier to think, ‘I’ll just put it off, I’ll just wait’. And then you start resenting [the other] anyway. So sometimes it’s better just to have the difficult conversation."

Mom-of-three Jenna, who is married to Henry Chase Hager, questioned, "How can you be honest with yourself, but also combat change? Because change for a lot of people is very tricky?"
“ANTI HERO” singer Taylor is no stranger to heartbreak. Her romance with Joe is her longest relationship to date, and she’s had very public splits with boyfriends including Tom Hiddleston (2016), Calvin Harris (2015-2016), Harry Styles (2012-2013), Zac Efron (2012), John Mayer (2009) and Joe Jonas (2008).

The TV hosts praised Taylor and Joe for digging deep, with Hoda, 58, saying: "When you decide to have that conversation, it takes all the courage in the world. It’s like your heart is thumping. No matter what the difficult conversation is, you feel like 'Oh my gosh, I can’t swallow … I’ve got to have this conversation'.
"And then you finally do it. It does make you feel a little braver that you had the courage."
Jenna agreed with, "But by the way, if you don’t [have that conversation], it just hangs over you, so you’re nervous and you feel kind of sick in your stomach."
The famous couple are yet to comment on their split, but Joe has not been seen at any of Taylor's latest sold-out concerts.
