Boy George is reportedly facing bankruptcy after being sued for £1.75million by a former bandmate, Jon Moss. According to Metro, the lawsuit is concerning royalties from the musician’s popular band, Culture Club.

It has been reported that Boy George - whose real name is George O’Dowd - is struggling to cover the legal costs and is facing bankruptcy as a result.

Jon is a drummer who co-founded the band with the singer, Mikey Craig and Roy Hay back in 1981 and claims that he was kicked out of the band by their manager in 2018. He since sued for lost earnings, claiming he would have lost out on £200,000 in profits during the band’s tour Life.

The news comes several months after the musician starred on I’m a Celebrity, where he was reportedly paid £500,000 to take part in the jungle show.

This isn't the first time that Boy George has struggled with legal troubles, as he previously went to prison on an assault and false imprisonment conviction. He was charged for assaulting Auden Carlsen, who upon their second meeting was handcuffed to a wall fixture and beaten by the singer.

At the time of his conviction, Judge David Radford said: "Whilst I accept that Mr Carlsen's physical injuries were not serious or permanent, in my view there can be no doubt that your premeditated callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatised him.

"He was deprived of his liberty and human dignity without warning or proper explanation to him of its purpose, length or purported justification."

He has since opened up about his prison stint, telling Reader’s Digest back in 2021: "I always maintained that jail would finish me off, but it didn’t. You somehow find the strength. It was a life-changing experience and I feel I came out of that situation with some wisdom and knowledge… I really don’t view that period in my life as a negative… but I wouldn’t want to go back."
