Rock legend Sir Rod Stewart, 81, has cancelled his shows in Las Vegas amid concerns for his health. The I Don't Want to Talk About It singer was scheduled to perform on Friday and Saturday as part of his The Encore Shows Residency, but pulled out before showtime due to a sinus infection.
"Following his doctor’s advice, Rod Stewart has regretfully cancelled his performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 29 and 30, but is scheduled to return with shows beginning June 2," a representative for the singer told the Las Vegas Review.
Rod sent his "apologies to my family of fans" in his own statement as per the publication. "I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer," he added. The rocker is set to continue his Vegas residency next week, which will run until 6 June and return from 18 to 29 August.
Health setback
Rod previously had to pull out of a Las Vegas gig last June at the eleventh hour due to illness. The singer had been set to perform on 1 June, but had to reschedule due to illness. "I'm sorry to inform you that I'm not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10," he told fans in a statement at the time.
The singer was forced to cancel a series of US shows last year after falling ill with the flu. He then made a triumphant return to Glastonbury Music Festival in July. His long-term wife Penny Lancaster told HELLO!: "He had influenza A, which is the worst one you can get. It knocked him sideways – he’s never been so ill in his entire life."
She continued: "About five days before Glastonbury, Rod said: 'I don’t think I’m going to be well enough. I tried my voice out and it’s not working.' "He was worrying so much about the expectation and the pressure, everyone relying on him and not wanting to let anyone down. I think it just got in his head."
"I got him to a hospital in London, to a throat specialist. We had the camera down his throat to look at his voice box, we worked with a voice coach, we were hot steaming, cold steaming – we were doing everything," she added. Penny said her husband had been on voice rest and she was "very, very strict with him".
Touring future
The rock star is currently touring the US on his One Last Time tour, with upcoming shows across June in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah and New York. Rod has taken his tour, which is being billed as a final large-scale world tour, across North America and Europe.
The singer previously said in a 2025 interview: "I’m not retiring, but this will be the last time I do a big tour like this."
