Inside Rod Stewart's 3 marriages — including current model wife 26 years his junior

Rod married actress and model Alana Collins in 1979. While it was the singer's first marriage, it was Alana's second – she divorced actor George Hamilton in 1975. Alana and Rod were together for five years, divorcing in 1984.

But, since then, the two remain friends. "Rod and I are friends, although we don't have the same kind of friendship that George and I have," Alana shared in 2005 to Smiler. "Rod and I will talk a lot about the kids. We get on well, though, and one Christmas – maybe it was before he was seeing Penny – Rachel Hunter, Kelly Emberg and I all went round to his house and cooked dinner together."

On August 20, 1979, Rod and Alana welcomed their first child together, daughter Kimberly Alana Stewart. She grew up in California and studied in London for some years. Kimberly briefly worked as an actress, starring in Black and White alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jared Leto.

Kimberly shares one child with actor Benicio del Toro. While the two were not in a relationship, they co-parent their daughter, Delilah, who was born on August 21, 2011.

A year after Alana and Rod welcomed Kimberly, Alana gave birth to their second child, son Sean Stewart on September 1, 1980. Like his big sister, Sean worked in Hollywood, starring in a few reality television shows. In 2025, he checked himself into rehab following a long history of substance abuse.

In 1990, six years after he and Alana divorced, Rod married model Rachel Hunter, who is 25 years his junior. Rachel was born in Auckland, New Zealand and started modeling across the world when she was just 16, appearing in Vogue, Sports Illustrated, and Elle, among others.

When she was 24, Rachel met Rod at a nightclub in Los Angeles. And three months later, they tied the knot at the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church. "When I got married a second time to Rachel [at 45], I really thought she was the one — but I got that wrong," Rod told People in 2021.

The couple separated in 1999 after nine years of marriage, finalizing their divorce in November 2006. After, Rachel dated NHL hockey player, Sean Avery. And in 2006, she started dating Jarret Stoll, another NHL player. The two got engaged and set a date, but Jarret called off the wedding seven weeks before they were set to walk down the aisle.

During their marriage, Rachel and Rod had two children, a daughter, Renee, and a son, Liam. Renee, born on June 1, 1992 in London, works as a dance artist and yoga teacher. In 2019, she completed her 500-hour yoga teacher training in India.

Liam was born on September 5, 1994 and is a former professional hockey player. These days, he's married to wife Nicole Artukovich and is a dad-of-two, to son Louie Mark Roderick Stewart and daughter Elsie Skylar Stewart.

In 1999, as Rachel and Rod's relationship came to a close, he started dating model and television personality, Penny Lancaster, who is 26 years younger than the singer. The two met after Penny took photos of the singer on tour.

Rod and Penny tied the knot on June 16, 2007 in Portofino, Italy. And two decades later, the two are still together. "[Penny] has mended my heart in more ways than one," Rod said of Penny to People in 2021. "It's a perfect relationship. I always tell the girls in my band and my daughters, 'A woman has so much living to do.' It's your life! Forget men!"

The couple share two children, Alastair Wallace Stewart, 20, and Aiden Patrick Stewart, 15. Rod and Penny raise their kids in Essex.
