Matt Damon, aka everyone's favourite famous 'girl dad,' has made it very clear his family comes first.
The Odyssey star, 55, has delighted fans with his recent red carpet moments with his four daughters, Alexia, 28, Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15, the latest seeing Matt and his girls step out at the London premiere of the Christopher Nolan film together earlier this month.
But now, Matt has revealed that being a dad doesn't just mean rocking up on the red carpet with his daughters in tow and they significantly influence the type of roles he says yes to.
Asked whether he would go on Broadway, Matt said he wouldn't until his youngest daughter Stella, whom she shares with his beautiful wife Luciana, has officially left home while chatting to American comedian, Amy Poelher on her podcast, Good Hang.
"I've thought a lot about [Broadway]. It's the schedule that until my youngest is a freshman and once she's out of the nest, I would definitely do it. It's just not a good schedule for parenting.
Matt's strict 'girl dad' rule
This isn't the only rule he has at home. While to Krista Smith on the Skip Intro podcast, Matt revealed that "no matter what", he and his girls never spend more than two weeks apart.
"We established this two-week rule where no matter what, we're not apart more than two weeks," the Jason Bourne actor said.
"When the kids were little and kind of portable, it was always a family adventure. We just went and set up camp wherever we were, and depending on the movie or the length of time, you know, we would finesse it, however we would have to finesse it."
Other non-negotiables at the Damon household include sitting down for family dinner every night.
"We have family dinner every night, and that's non-negotiable, and it's always been that way," he told People Magazine.
Matt explained that despite their good intentions, even then it's hard to stay present. "One of my daughters said, 'Well, family dinner, last night we didn't talk.' And we realised, 'Oh my gosh, you're right,'" he revealed, noting: "We sat down for dinner, and you can get lost in that routine a little bit and not appreciate why you established the routine in the first place.
"That's the kind of family mindfulness we're all working on."
