Meet Matt Damon's two siblings: His lookalike brother who lives a very different life & actress step sister who almost played his love interest

Kyle was born in 1967, three years before Matt, to parents Kent Damon and Nancy Carlsson-Paige. Their parents divorced in 1972, and the brothers lived with their mom in a six-family communal house, which Kyle called a "hippie commune" to Art Works Magazine in 2020.

Matt and Kyle helped their mom repair the house, which led to Kyle finding his passion for mixed media art. "Throughout those years when I was doing art, I was building things, and Matt was taking on characters," he recalled. "We didn't grow up with anything, but we didn't know any better. We were happy."

The oldest Damon studied printmaking at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for two years, before he transferred to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts. After he graduated, he started working with mixed media.

Years later, Kyle is a working artist. He lives in Cambridge with his family, with his studio attached to their house. Some of his best known work is his acclaimed art series on the American flag.

In the early years of his career, Kyle showed his art in a gallery and just happened to meet his wife, Lori. She inquired about one of his paintings that he unfortunately had already sold, but the clever artist used it as a way to ask her out. Two years later, the two got engaged.

After Kyle and Lori tied the knot, they welcomed their son Jackson. A few years later, they welcomed another son, Miles. Being a dad changed Kyle's life. "I remember lying down, holding Jackson on my chest, and feeling I'm in the right place. I just need to take care of this little dude," he told Art Works Magazine. "It changed the intensity of my work. I still love making art and I'm passionate about it, but all that energy and what it means to contribute to the world was transferred to my kids."

Sarah is 16 years younger than her famous step-brother. Her mom, Celeste, married Matt's dad Kent in 2005. While they aren't related by blood, Sarah and Matt have a lot in common. Like Matt, she tried her hand at acting, but hasn't used the Damon last name to inch her way into the industry.

In 2009, Sarah auditioned for the 2011 film The Adjustment Bureau, which Matt was the star of. The young actress read for a ballerina named Elise who was set to have a bit of a romance with Matt's David Norris.

"All of a sudden they say, 'Are you aware that if you get this role, you'll be playing Matt's love, having a love affair with your brother.' My jaw dropped," Sarah told the Boston Herald in 2009. But in the end, she didn't agree to read for Elise and got a smaller part as a waitress. "It's very exciting. What parents wouldn't want their children to work together?"
