Reacher star Alan Ritchson has shared the heartbreaking news that he and wife Cat have ended their marriage after 20 years.
"After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way," read a statement shared on both of their social media accounts on September, 12, 2026. "We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world.
The pair captioned the post with a broken heart emoji and turned off comments.
"The best gift we can give one another – and our boys – right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be. We also want to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming," they continued, sharing that "nothing can diminish" the years they spent together.
"Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in," they added.
"We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion. Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority."
Alan and Cat met as teenagers in Florida, yet their connection didn't happen in the classroom, with Alan and Catherine crossing paths in ballet lessons.
"I'll never forget seeing him for the first time in the studio," Cat said during an appearance on The Road to Wisdom. "I turned to my friend Miriam, and I said, 'Who is that?' He, at some point, came up to me and we just got chatting."
They ended their romance when Cat left for college, but they reunited in Miami through mutual friends.
They tied the knot in 2006, and Cat has been by Alan's side through the years, supporting him when Alan decided to go public with his experience of sexual assault while working in the modeling industry, as well as a 2019 suicide attempt, and drug addiction.
Alan and Cat share three sons. Calem was born in 2012, followed by Edan a year later. Amory was welcomed in 2015
He claimed that his sons came to him in a vision as he was in the process of suicide, and asked him not to follow through. In the vision, they were in their 30s and "told me that they wanted me to be here, alive and part of their lives."
He has credited his strength as being the reason he could pull himself up before he lost consciousness, and he immediately called a doctor.
The 43-year-old actor was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD, and he has credited a brand new lifestyle for helping him to get his life back on track for himself and his family.
"Thank GOD for someone with the unspeakable strength, persistence, resilience, patience, grace, love, compassion and forgiveness to suffer through the valleys with me," Alan once wrote of Cat on an Instagram tribute
In 2023 they sold their $2.2 million home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, to travel together while he filmed projects, living a nomadic lifestyle out of hotels and AirBnbs, but they recently put down roots in Los Angeles.
