Danny DeVito has enjoyed a long and remarkable career in Hollywood. From acting to directing and producing, the 81-year-old comedian and filmmaker has been a significant force both on and off-screen during his five-decade Hollywood career. With his recent appearance in the 18th season of the hit sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and an upcoming role in the fifth Jumanji film, Danny is showing no signs of slowing down.

So, what's his secret to keeping fit and healthy at 81? The Matilda star recently shared the daily ritual keeping prospects of retirement at bay.

Danny DeVito drinks green juice every day to stay healthy

"I drink green juice every day," he told AARP

"You got to acquire a taste for it, but no sugar in it," the actor shared. Giving an insight into what ingredients he includes, Danny said: "Morning glory, kale, any kind of arugula. Any kind of greens."

Sharing the benefits of the health drink, the actor added: "It hydrates you, and it also gives you a lot of fiber."

Danny DeVito's TV and film work

The Twins actor, who shot to fame playing Louie De Palma on the hit television sitcom Taxi, is booked and busy. 

He recently produced the comedy-thriller film, Drag, about two estranged sisters whose routine robbery of a New York home turns disastrous. His daughter Lucy starred in the film, alongside Lizzy Caplan, while his son Jake produced.

"You know, we're so supportive of each other," Lucy told People at the SXSW Film & TV Festival: "Drag was a family affair working with my dad and my brother. And, my mom, my sister, they're in L.A. rooting us on. And, you know, my husband and everyone. It was a family collaboration."

Danny is also set to appear as Grandpa Eddie in the fifth Jumanji film, Open World, which premieres on Christmas Day 2026.

Earlier this year, he reprised his role as Frank Reynolds in the 18th season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Danny has starred in the series for 20 years, having joined cast members Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson in 2006 during its second season. 

Danny DeVito's family life

Danny shares three children, Lucy, Grace and Jake, with his wife Rhea Perlman.

The pair tied the knot in January 1982 and separated after 30 years of marriage in 2012. They reconciled a year later, but separated for good in March 2017.

The actors aren't officially divorced and remain "best of friends."

"We are not living together anymore. She lives close by," the actor recently told Fox News Digital.

He added, "We are really good, best of friends, and we always were from the very, very, very beginning."
