Lindsay Wagner and The Bionic Woman
Lindsay shot to fame playing Jaime Sommers in the hit action-adventure show, The Bionic Woman – a spin-off of the 1970s series The Six Million Dollar Man.
The series, which aired between 1976 and 1978, followed former tennis pro Jaime, who is fitted with bionic implants following a near-fatal skydiving accident. Using her superhuman powers, Jaime takes on secret missions for the government.
The series was a huge success, and launched Lindsay to international fame. In 1977, the actress received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance.
Speaking about the show's legacy during a 2016 interview with AMC, Lindsay shared: "We didn't know it was going to be as iconic as it was. Groundbreaking, yes, because we were intentionally trying to break ground, or the glass ceiling if you will, in some ways.
"But as far as the magnitude, the iconic status, continuing on and on, reruns forever, we weren't aware of that," she continued, adding: "We didn't really think about it - we didn't have time to think about that."
