Hoda Kotb returned to TODAY for an emotional interview.
On Monday, October 5, the former TODAY anchor appeared on the show for a segment featuring Drew Brees, the former New Orleans Saints quarterback.
The two came together to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the "Domecoming" game in New Orleans, the Saints' first game back at the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina, during which it served as a refuge for the thousands of people that lost their homes in the devastating natural disaster.
Drew reflected on having joined the Saints for the 2006 season after being let go from the then-San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles) following a near-career ending injury, inspired by the city's rebuilding after the hurricane.
Hoda herself is a devout Saints fan and former New Orleans-based anchor, and both she and Drew teared up reflecting on the unforgettable game, which will be commemorated during Monday Night Football.
