"Welcome to the stage… Lady Godiva, she’s a really good diver," Tom penned, adding: "I still can’t believe this is me! THANK YOU @plastiquetiara."

Rocking waist-length bronde locks crafted into a Rapunzel-style side plait, the 32-year-old dad-of-two slipped into a mesmerising mermaid-style dress, complete with elegant flared sleeves.

In a separate post, still glammed up to the nines in flawless hair and makeup, Tom slipped off the handmade creation, which he revealed he knitted himself, showing off his impressively toned biceps and his iconic Olympic ring tattoo taking front and centre.

Meanwhile, Adam Lambert added a string of flame emojis.

Tom's first time in drag

The photos of Tom, who has previously been a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race, were taken from a YouTube video uploaded by Plastique Tiara, a former show contestant who helped the Olympic athlete transform into his striking new persona.

During the video, Tom said: "I’ve always watched Drag Race, and I’ve always wanted to get into drag.

"This will genuinely be my first time. I've put on a wig, I’ve put on heels – because who hasn't – but I've never had a full face."

During the video, Tom also opened up about suffering from body dysmorphia. "I've spoken about it a couple of times around body dysmorphia," he said, explaining: "I had a few eating disorder things around 2012."

"I think body dysmorphia is a real thing and because I know rationally I’m in perfectly good shape, but people can see that and judge however they want to judge online and that’s fine."
