8 A-list Hollywood women with massive age-gap romances — including Cher's 40-year difference

She may be 80, but Cher thinks nothing of dating a man half her age. The Believe singer has been dating music executive Alexander Edwards since 2022, and neither of them is bothered about their age gap, or what people have to say about it.

"Whatever," Cher said during an interview on CBS Mornings in 2025. "They're not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast. He just says, 'You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger.'"

Joan is 32 years older than her husband Percy Gibson. They married in February 2002 when she was 69, and he was 36. Now 92 and 60 respectively, their relationship has stood the test of time and proved Joan's belief that "age is just a number".

Joan was married four times before she met her soulmate, Percy, while performing in the play Love Letters in 2000, which he produced.  "I kissed a lot of frogs before I found my prince," she wrote in her 2011 memoir The World According to Joan. "For those women who are looking for a life partner, that old saying that men are like buses and 'if you wait long enough the right one will come along' is true for a reason." 

Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor stunned fans when they went public with their relationship in 2015, as they have a 32-year age gap. However, they appear to have differing views of their own on the issue. Holland, 83, said that the age difference has bothered her more than Sarah, 51, saying it "worries me for her sake."

Meanwhile, Sarah says the age gap is something that makes her appreciate their relationship even more. "I think there’s a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what’s important, and it can make the little things seem very small,” she told The New York Times. "It puts a kind of sharp light mixed with a sort of diffused light on something. I can’t say it any other way than there’s a poignancy to it, and a heightened sense of time and the value of time."

One of Hollywood's longest-lasting age-gap couples is Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, who celebrated 25 years of marriage in 2025. The couple were born exactly 25 years apart as they share the same birthday; while Michael was born on 25th September 1944, Catherine was born on the same date in 1969.

Catherine addressed the difference in their ages in a 2022 interview with The Telegraph, saying, "We're just very good with one another, we respect each other, and I never really feel that he's 25 years older than me." 

There may be a 26-year age gap between Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Baldwin, but that hasn't stopped them from going on to welcome seven children together since they first met in 2011. 

The couple have spoken candidly about some of the issues that have arisen due to their age-gap, primarily in their different attitudes to parenting. "We do not always agree," he said. "My wife prevails, if you will, but we do not always agree because I'm still much older than my wife." 

David Foster is 34 years older than his wife Katharine McPhee, and while the former American Idol star previously said she was "very concerned" about what people would think about their relationship, they have since married and welcomed their son Rennie in 2021. 

"I totally get the judgment initially, but things are never as they appear," Katharine said on the Informed Pregnancy Podcast. "Things are never exactly as they appear. And I’m in love with our love story, and that’s all that matters."

Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson's age was a big topic of conversation when he went public with his relationship with director Sam Taylor-Johnson in 2009, when he was just 19 and she was 43. The couple married in 2012 and are parents to two daughters, Wylda Rae and Romy Hero.

Sam previously described her husband as "an old soul", telling the Sunday Times: "We spend every minute of the day together. My friends call him Benjamin Button because he has — on the outside — such youth, and on the inside, he is so wise and settled. He doesn’t like parties. He likes being at home and cooking for the family."

George Clooney has previously admitted that he didn't think his now-wife Amal would be interested in him when they first met, due to their 17-year age gap. "Then Amal walked in. I was like, 'Oh my God!' Then I didn't really think I'd have much of a chance with her because I was 17 years older and she seemed to have everything she needed," he told The New York Times.

However, he needn't have worried. The pair married in Italy in 2014 and welcomed their twins, Ella and Alexander, in 2017.
