Emma Thompson's body guru Louise Parker launches wellness retreat

The lifestyle expert reveals why nutrition is so important…

Food and fitness expert Louise Parker is well-known for her transforming results – she famously helped actress Emma Thompson lose two stone in 2017, when the star admitted it was her “sustainable” regime that helped her feel happy and healthy. Now, the celebrity-approved lifestyle guru is taking her tried-and-tested programme abroad to Saas-Fee, Switzerland, where guests can kick-start a new regime and take in the stunning scenery.  "Louise is the only one out there I trust – she's not holier than thou," Emma has explained in the past, before adding that her trainer "miraculously" continues to convince her to exercise and maintain her impressive results.

"Our retreats provide a complete immersion into the Louise Parker Method and combine expert coaching from our dietitian, a specially designed menu during the week and one-on-one and group training sessions," Louise, who also counts Vogue Williams as a client, told HELLO!. "It’s a one-week reboot for some people. Quite often it’s people who are feeling a bit exhausted and want a holiday, and are then armed with a plethora of knowledge which lasts a lifetime. All taught in the clean air of Switzerland in one of my favourite hotels! All the workshops are held around a roaring fire with a glass of wine in the evenings."

Ever wondered what you're allowed to eat on a health retreat? Louise's approach is all about making sure you don't feel deprived. "The focus is on good quality proteins and the chefs will use fresh, locally sourced, organic and seasonal ingredients prepared according to the Louise Parker Method," she says. "There will be an abundance of flavour in the three meals a day and two snacks. It will all be filling and warming which you will need as at altitude and they will accelerate fat burning and results."

Meals are set to include vanilla bircher at breakfast, Thai beef salad at lunch and rack of lamb with roast winter vegetables at dinner. The retreat also includes an offering of nutritional and lifestyle workshops, which look at reducing stress and improving sleep, optimising your fitness regime and "finding a balance between indulgence and restrain," as Louise puts it. "The nutrition and lifestyle workshops will help you crack your personal code to successful wellbeing through nutrition, lifestyle changes and fitness," she adds.

Quick lunchtime workout - and I mean quick. Glute activation with clams followed by 4 (not forty😂)sets of 80 squats (holding 6kg today) with good 3 minute stretch in between and finishing off with a 2 minute plank. My main focus is on driving up through my heels to activate my glutes. I literally have to squat with my entire focus on my buttocks doing the work. The minute I loose focus I allow my quads to take over and end up with super tight hip flexors and glutes that don’t fire or stand to attention. Love to do high rep conditioning work that means I don’t have to go near any cardio machinery - I’d rather walk outside later. The body guru often posts her meals and workouts on Instagram

"I wouldn't be surprised if you dropped half a stone on the retreat," says Louise. "But you will take home more than just weight loss. We submerge you in the method so you have the information to take home with you. People often come to us and say, 'I'm here to drop 20 pounds' - but when they leave, they rave about having learned a new way of living and balance and they wish they had learned years ago."

The Spring Retreat with the Louise Parker Method takes place at The Capra in Saas-Fee, Switzerland 15 April to 22 April 2018.
