Penny Lancaster has been a passionate campaigner when it comes to the menopause and on Tuesday, the star marked the one-year anniversary of her Menopause Mandate campaign.

The group aims to revolutionise the menopause support and advice women receive from the health service and wider society. During the day, Penny fronted a discussion on menopause in the workplace, and as ever she looked super stylish for the milestone moment. The former Loose Women presenter wore an eye-catching forest green suit, alongside a white top that was covered in plenty of dots.

Earlier in the year, the star opened up about her "disappointment" after the government opted not to trial a menopause work leave scheme.

Speaking on Sky News, she shared that she felt "deflated" as she said: "The sad thing is that if the workplace doesn't help women with menopause, then they will start reducing their hours, they won't consider promotion, and even go to the point where they will quit jobs because of the extreme symptoms that menopause can have."

Penny had major symptoms when she went through the menopause, prompting her husband, rock legend Sir Rod Stewart, to share that men need to better understand what women go through in order to offer their support.

"I hadn't seen [the menopause] before, because my marriages didn't last that long," he told Reader's Digest, referring to the fact that he divorced his first wife Alana in 1984 when she was 39, while Rachel Hunter was 37 when their marriage ended in 2006.

Speaking of Penny's experience, he continued: "She would get into blinding fits of rage. One night she threw utensils, so me and the boys gave her a hug – and since then she has worked to let people know what it is. Men have to understand, and not just go down the pub."

During a joint appearance on Loose Women, Rod revealed that the "fragile situation" that Penny found herself in was "frightening".

"It was frightening because she really wasn’t the person I married. But we talked about it which I think is the most important thing a couple can do. And she explained it to me through the tears because Penny likes a cry. "We talked it through and I think that's what couples have to do," he said, while Penny added that HRT was also a huge help.
