David Beckham is known as much for his fashion-forward approach to style as he is for his footballing skills, but his choices haven’t always been spot-on. In a hilarious segment of The Late Late Show with James Corden, the 42-year-old was taken down memory lane by the British born host to reminisce some of his most memorable stand-out ensembles in a series of photos. The first showed David and his wife, Victoria Beckham, posing in matching Versace all-leather outfits, causing him to quickly add: “That idea was not my idea!”

Next, a picture of David’s infamous sarong, which made front-page news back in 1998, resulted in Emily Blunt, who was also on the show, to exclaim: “I loved that sarong!” The tie-dye wash grey design was teamed with a black tank top and pair of chunky sandals.

The best photo was saved for last - David and Victoria’s infamous matching purple wedding outfits. In the throwback picture, Victoria is seen wearing a floor-length form-fitting gown adorned with a sash of flowers, while David is dressed in a coordinating silk suit, which caused him to defend his fashion choice “To be fair, it was 1999, so that was a while ago.” James then responded, saying: “It still wasn’t cool then, just so you know!”

However, when asked whether he regretted his choices, David said: “Most of them. But they were right at the time.”

David, a doting dad-of-four, has previously revealed that his teenage boys, particularly his eldest son, 18-year-old Brooklyn, like to raid his wardrobe.

Chatting to HELLO! Fashion, David said: "I'm still a cool dad as far as my younger children are concerned. I was cool for about five hours, according to Brooklyn, when I got him Kanye's Adidas Yeezys for his 16th birthday. Then he realised I got myself a pair as well, so that kind of killed it…

"Every time I go into my wardrobe and there are clothes on the floor, I know Brooklyn's been in there, as I'm a really tidy person. He doesn't think I'm cool, but he will go out in my new Saint Laurent trousers - which actually fit him better - and my trainers."
