Queen Mary of Denmark epitomised elegance on 19 May for a presentation of grants from The Queen Mary Scholarship. King Frederik's wife, 54, was seen wearing a powder blue and cream look that perfectly flattered her skin tone and hair colour.

The star of the sartorial show was Mary's blouse, the 'Twisted Silk Crepe De Chine Top in Sky Blue' style by Victoria Beckham, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram. It featured billowing sleeves and a keyhole detail that elevated it from simple workwear to something sophisticated and worthy of a royal outing.

It was paired with a cream A-line skirt by Day Birger et Mikkelsen, which skimmed the knee and was cinched with Mulberry's skinny 'Pimlico' belt to further accentuate the fit and flare silhouette.

For her shoes, the Queen chose the 'Ellipsis 105' pumps from Gianvito Rossi, which came in a neutral snake print, and rounded off the look with blue jewellery – the Pomellato 'Veleno Earrings in Chalcedony' and the 'Luna' ring, as well as the 'Esme' bracelet by Dulong.

A style masterclass

It's a look that struck a chord with Sian Clarke, a personal stylist who runs Styled by Sian. "Queen Mary of Denmark perfects literary chic combined with a masterclass in royal styling in her elegant blue Victoria Beckham crêpe top ensemble," she says, referencing the trend that blends an intellectual aesthetic with modern preppiness.

"The beautiful texture through the neckline, sleeves and skirt creates a perfectly proportioned yet effortlessly sophisticated silhouette — polished, modern and ideal for a presentation setting. A refined nod to Spring/Summer 26 trends while remaining completely in line with her timeless royal style duties."

A reliable combo

A blouse and an A-line skirt pairing has become a go-to combo for Mary this May. Earlier this month, the royal attended a dinner of the Global Fashion Agenda at Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen.

Queen Mary stunned in an H&M skirt

She mixed high street and high end, pairing a white Jesper Hovring blouse with a jacquard-patterned skirt by H&M.

She accessorised with a green Nina Ricci 'Green Leather and Suede Shoulder Bag' and added further luxury to the look, slipping on the 'Love 100 Fine Glitter Heel Mesh Pumps' by none other than Jimmy Choo. Her diamond pendant earrings from Bruun Rasmussen, which were purchased at auction, were the perfect finishing touch.
