While Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway recovers from her recent major operation, Princess Ingrid Alexandra paid a sweet tribute to her mother for a special occasion on Monday.
Twenty-two-year-old Ingrid Alexandra joined her brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, to celebrate the national football team's return home from the US in Oslo after making it to the quarter finals match against England last weekend. The Princess looked effortlessly stylish for the outing in tailored white trousers and a contrasting chic black top that was reportedly borrowed from her mum's archival wardrobe.
Mette-Marit was absent from the homecoming festivities following her recent lung transplant, but according to Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, Ingrid Alexandra's 2007 Prada top for the recent public outing was previously worn by the Crown Princess. The silky top featured a flattering round neckline and slightly flared hem with a ruffled detail at the waistline.
Ingrid Alexandra, who attended two World Cup matches to cheer on her home country, showed her enduring team spirit with a Norway scarf worn around her neck.
Ingrid Alexandra's £7.2k accessory
While the royal's outfit boasted a casual elegance, Ingrid Alexandra's jewellery added a bold touch to her look. The royal paired her ensemble with a statement oversized gold cross pendant necklace from Amsterdam fashion label, Scandivv.
Her dainty 18k gold hoop earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelery, which retail for £7,238 online, featured a row of brilliant diamonds and made for the most gorgeous accessory to subtly elevate her outfit.
Mette-Marit supported by her daughter
Ingrid Alexandra returned home from her university studies in Australia last month to be with her ailing mother. Mette-Marit, who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, underwent a successful lung transplant on 17 June after a recent decline in her health.
"She plans to come home soon. It has to do with the family situation. She wants to be with her mother," Crown Prince Haakon said of his daughter's decision to return to Norway during a press conference in Japan, according to Norwegian broadcaster NRK.
"She plans to complete her studies in Australia, but we’ll have to come back to how long she stays home," the royal added.
Ingrid Alexandra has stayed in Norway throughout her mum's surgery and ongoing recovery. The Norwegian Palace announced on 14 July that Mette-Marit has been discharged from Oslo University Hospital following her lung transplant.
The Crown Princess said she was "deeply grateful" in a statement shared by the Palace. "First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who make the choice to donate organs. Through organ donation, I have been given the gift of life. Words fail me as I try to express how profoundly grateful and humbled I am," the royal said.
She added: "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has stood by me throughout this long journey: my family, the doctors, surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals, as well as all those who make an invaluable contribution to the Norwegian health service every day."
