Princess Anne, 75, has proven that daring styles such as cut-outs are not off-limits at any age – even for royals following strict fashion rules.

While the royal ladies naturally gravitate towards modest necklines and hems that flatter their figure, that doesn't mean restricting their fashion choices. The Princess Royal was the ultimate style icon in an opulent green dress as she joined her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bangkok.

Anne was pictured visiting an exhibition of photographs from the Royal Collection of previous visits to Thailand during the King's birthday party, and she looked regal in an emerald-green dress that fell just below her knee. The structured design was finished with a ladder stitch cutout running around the border of the round neckline, cuffs and down the cropped sleeves.

While this showed a small amount of skin, it was an elegant, royal take on a cut-out dress, which would normally be considered unroyal. Teamed with black heels, matching gloves and pearl jewellery, Anne looked effortlessly glamorous for the evening event.

This is not the first time Anne has experimented with cut-out dresses. In 2025, King Charles' sister pulled out all the stops as she hosted a special dinner at Windsor Castle, celebrating global leadership, trust, and collaboration across Commonwealth Nations.

Princess Anne donned a cobalt blue gown with long sleeves, making a statement with the teardrop-shaped cutouts that framed the neckline and exposed her decolletage.

Power of colour psychology

Anne's fearless approach to fashion extends beyond silhouettes – she is also famously brave with her colour palette. This was most recently seen in June 2026, when she wore a canary yellow mother-of-the-groom dress to her son Peter Phillips' second wedding.

According to fashion stylist Constance Richardson, Anne's colourful sartorial choices could be a key part of her confidence.

"Colour psychology is powerful – certain shades trigger associations that make us feel more assertive, approachable or energised. But the wrong ones can drain your confidence and leave you feeling flat," Constance previously told HELLO!.

"Colour is one of the fastest ways to shift mood and presence. Bold shades can feel like wearable armour, while muted tones create quiet luxury and a sense of warmth. Confidence isn't always about going brighter; it's about choosing the shade that matches your energy that day and letting colour work for you. Or, using a colour to give a sense of confidence that maybe you don't have that day."

Anne's decision to wear deep emerald green in Bangkok is a perfect example of this philosophy. In colour theory, green symbolises vitality, balance and growth – a fitting message for her international visit.
