Queen Letizia of Spain is currently in Helsinki for her and King Felipe's state visit to Finland. Ahead of her appearance at the State Banquet on Tuesday evening, the royal couple arrived at the Presidential Palace, and the mother of two looked striking in a dazzling, bright pink coat.
A past-season buy, the coat was part of designer label Carolina Herrera's 2019 Fall collection and is quite the statement piece. Crafted from a cosy mix of wool and cashmere, it has a matching silk crepe de chine lining.
At the time of purchase, the price tag was thought to be around £2,600. The silhouette is slightly oversized yet tailored and has the ability to amp up any ensemble in seconds with its cheerful hue.
We loved how the 54-year-old wore the coat over a pastel pink dress by Pedro del Hierro and added sumptuous accessories, all in a blush colourway: a top-handled bag and stilettos, both by Magrit.
The ensemble looks straight out of Elle Woods' wardrobe in Legally Blonde, creating a masterclass in tonal pink dressing.
Barbiecore
Letizia's look nods to the Barbiecore trend - a term that was coined when pink aesthetics dominated the global fashion lexicon in 2022.
Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli can be credited with starting the trend with his AW22 collection, but it was arguably Margot Robbie's role in the 2023 film Barbie that really cemented its place in fashion.
Barbiecore is a sugar-rush take on bright pinks associated with the doll's attire. While the movie hype has settled, Queen Letizia proves that this vibrant hue remains a power colour for 2026.
Queen Letizia's banquet look
The Spanish Queen attended a state banquet that evening, hosted by the President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, and First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb in honour of her and King Felipe's state visit to the country.
For the occasion, the ever-stylish Queen wore a figure-hugging black velvet gown with long sleeves, styling her brunette hair in a half-up, half-down style. Letizia had worn the Felipe Varela gown before, notably during the President of Argentina's state visit to Spain in 2017.
While she didn't wear a tiara with the gown this time around, Letizia still sparkled in a diamond flower brooch, diamond stud earrings and twin diamond bracelets that once belonged to Queen Victoria Eugénie and were bequeathed to the Queens of Spain.
