It's 25 years since we learnt that hot pink, Harvard Law School and proper hair care were all key to a successful career at the bench. Reese Witherspoon starred as the unlikely law student Elle Woods who goes from a revenge mission against her no-good ex to ruling the court room as her authentic self. With the support of friends, tutors and a crush-worthy Wilson brother, we get to see Elle prove that you can achieve anything, so long as you give it your all.

Grab your small chihuahua, put on your best stilettos and get practicing the bend and snap, we're heading down the reading list to where it all began.

Ali Larter is still acting today, recently starring in 20 episodes of 'Landman'

Ali Larter

Ali Larter starred as Brooke Taylor Windham, a widow accused of murdering her husband Hayworth. When Elle is brought on the case, she finds an alliance with the workout professional and helps to get her off the hook.

Now, Ali is still busy as an actress and model, starring in 2021 thriller The Last Victim, 2024 horror Spin the Bottle and western series Landman. She's married to Hayes MacArthur and is mother to two children.

Jennifer Coolidge was a fan-favourite in 'Legally Blonde'

Jennifer Coolidge

Ever-stylish Jennifer Coolidge provided support and guidance to Elle over the counter of a manicure studio, in turn learning key skills like the Bend and Snap.

The actress is still a beloved comedy actress, bringing a dramatic edge to acclaimed drama White Lotus, as well as appearing in The Minecraft Movie, A Cinderella Story and 2 Broke Girls.

Linda Cardellini is still busy as a comedy actress today, but many remember her perm-based testimony best

Linda Cardellini

Linda Cardellini starred as Chutney, step-daughter to the suspected murderess Brooke. But she forgot to consult her issue of Cosmo before stepping up to the witness stand and now we all know the first cardinal rule of perm maintenance.

Since then, she's starred in Netflix hit Dead to Me, Will Ferrell comedy Daddy's Home and DTF St. Louis. Linda began dating Steve Rodriguez in 2009 and the couple share one daughter, Lilah-Rose Rodriguez.

Luke Wilson

Brother to Owen, Luke Wilson starred as Emmett Richmond, the more grounded foil to Elle Woods' ex-boyfriend, providing advice and regular encouragement throughout her first case.

Throughout the '90s and 2000s, Luke had a run of hits with The Royal Tenenbaums, Idiocracy, Old School and Scream 2. He's still appearing on screen with TV shows like No Good Deed, voice over work on Bat-Fam and Western epic Horizon: An American Saga.

Matthew Davis starred as Warner Huntington III, the waitlisted Harvard wannabe who initially drives Elle to law school

Matthew Davis

We loved to loathe Matthew Davis in Legally Blonde as Elle's ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III. While Elle thinks he's set to propose, Warner breaks things off, saying she's not serious enough for him. It's a moment of triumph then when Elle heads straight through the admissions process and we learn Warner was waitlisted.

Making teen film history wasn't enough for Matt who went on to star in supernatural coming-of-age drama The Vampire Diaries as Alaric Saltzman. He's also worked more recently on projects like Grosse Pointe Garden Society and festive rom-com Christmas Wishes & Mistletoe Kisses. Off-screen, he's a father of two and was married to wife Kiley Casciano, but they separated in 2024.

Reese Witherspoon starred as Elle Woods herself in 'Legally Blonde'

Reese Witherspoon

You became an icon of comedy cinema? What, like it's hard? Reese Witherspoon's Elle Woods proved that just because you wear pink and sport a perfect blonde wave, doesn't mean you can't graduate at the top of your class.

The Oscar-winning actress is still a beloved presence on screen and doesn't seem to have lost any of her acting passion. She's appeared alongside Jennifer Aniston on The Morning Show, rom-com You're Cordially Invited and Your Place or Mine. She's returned to the world of Legally Blonde as an executive producer on the new series, ensuring the beloved franchise stays in good hands.

Holland Taylor provides a tough word of advice during Elle crisis over whether to remain at law school

Holland Taylor

Holland Taylor is the lecturer we all wish we'd had. The tough-love professional Elspeth Stromwell challenges Elle to remain at law school and follow her new found passion, despite her ill-treatment at Harvard Law.

Best known for her roles on George of the Jungle and Romancing the Stone, Holland has also worked on sitcom Two and a Half Men and thriller series Mr. Mercedes.

Selma Blair's Vivien was an unlikely, but beloved, ally to Elle during her time at law school

Selma Blair

Our first impression of Warner's new fiancée Vivian Kensington, who is exactly as posh as she sounds, might not be favourable but we soon grow to love her. After all, why be rivals when you can laugh over your mutual ex who couldn't even do his own laundry?

Just two years prior, Selma had a hit with Cruel Intentions, following up her Legally Blonde fame with Hellboy, The Sweetest Thing and A Dirty Shame. Since then, she's worked on After, Far More and SWAT Exiles and has fortunately been able to work once her MS fell into remission in 2021. She currently co-parents son Arthur Saint Bleick.

Victor Garber starred as the detestable Professor Callahan in 'Legally Blonde'

Victor Garber

Warner is bad enough but Victor takes top spot for Legally Blonde's most-hated. Trying to force leading lady Elle into intimacy had audiences loathing him for the rest of the film's screen time, and the 25 years since.

He's a far nicer man off screen, appearing in Godspell (1973) and later hits like Family Law, Titanic and Alias. Victor married his now-husband, Salvage and Pretty Boys actor, Rainer Andreesen in 2015.
