Nearly 40 years after Ursula Andress emerged from the sea as Honey Ryder in that famous ivory bikini, setting hearts aflutter worldwide, the star of Dr No has been named sexiest Bond girl of all time. Barbara Bach, aka Major Anya Amasova in The Spy Who Loved Me, scored at number two, while the voluptuous Denise Richards of the latest installment The World Is Not Enough clocked in at number three.
Sean Connery, named best Bond by the Hotdog magazine poll, praised his Dr No co-star's assets, freely admitting: “Ursula doing anything at that time was terrific – getting into a bath, going into the sea, she looked great.”
Fellow Bond babe Britt Ekland, Mary Goodnight in The Man With The Golden Gun, was equally in awe of Honey Ryder. “I saw Ursula Andress come out of the sea in her bikini and I just thought that no one could ever look that fantastic,” she says. “After seeing that I wanted to be a Bond girl.”
The magazine also included other 007 categories, with Goldfinger receiving the gong for favourite Bond film, and Richard Kiel’s villainous Jaws from both The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker taking the top spot for Bond bad guys.
