Harrison Ford and his wife have split up for the second time in a year – but this time it looks like it’s for keeps. Screenwriter Melissa Mathison Ford – she wrote the Spielberg blockbuster E.T. – filed for legal separation in Los Angeles yesterday.

Last November, the star of Blade Runner and Melissa, whoM he married in 1983, issued a statement saying that they were splitting up. Despite reports linking Harrison with Twin Peaks star Lara Flynn Boyle, the twosome said that they had been apart for several months but were trying to work out their differences.

Harrison’s manager, Patricia McQueeney said: “The couple is very friendly and everything is very amicable,” but did not say whether the separation would lead to a formal divorce.

Their two children, 14-year-old Malcolm and Georgia, 11, were responsible for their parents’ reconciliation, reported in April of this year. “He missed his kids, missed being with the family,” said an unnamed friend.
