Tinseltown favourite Uma Thurman is back on the singles market after calling it quits with hotelier boyfriend Andre Balazs. She had been dating the property tycoon ever since her split with ex-husband Ethan Hawke two years ago.
Reports that the relationship was in trouble spread through the American press after the statuesque actress arrived unaccompanied for last Sunday's Academy Awards. When asked whether there was any foundation to the rumours, she responded: "Unfortunately it is true, but we remain good friends."
The news has taken many showbiz commentators by surprise, not least because of Uma's recent affirmations that her romance was going from strength to strength. "Everyone constantly taunts you that rebound relationships aren't a good idea and that they don't work," she said. "But mine is working."
The Golden Globe winning actress has two children, Maya and Roan, from her years with Ethan. She was also married to British star Gary Oldman from 1990 to 1992.
