Al Roker shared an exciting announcement with his fans on Instagram with an adorable selfie of him and his wife Deborah Roberts.

The Today star revealed that Deborah would be standing in as co-host on Good Morning America, joining Robin Roberts and George Stephanoupolos on the program.

Taking to Instagram, Al shared a snap showing him smiling next to his yawning wife, writing in the caption: "Unusual for us. @debrobertsabc heading out BEFORE me as she co-hosts @goodmorningamerica A split screen morning for us."

Deborah, who is ABC News' Senior National Affairs Correspondent, was quick to respond to the post in the comments section, writing: "Yawning!!"

The journalist, who is also a contributing host on 20/20 alongside David Muir, co-hosted GMA on Monday and Tuesday. She marked the exciting moment with post to Instagram.

Sharing a series of snaps from her time as co-host, including one showing the 61-year-old leaning against the GMA news desk, she wrote in the caption: "Monday moments. No lemons in this life…only lemonade with the wonderful @goodmorningamerica fam

"Happy to hang for more than a few mins this time with @robinrobertsgma @gstephanopoulos @lara.spencer @therealaliwentworth @janai.norman and the gang. See you tomorrow! #grateful #morning."

Fans were quick to praise the star, with one person writing: "Omg you did awesome, you need to be on the daily morning show," while another added: "Would love to see you more often hosting GMA!"

A third follower commented: "Always fab. Also, loving you seated at the table."

Deborah stepped in for usual GMA host Michael Strahan, who has been absent from the show since Monday 27 March. 

Deborah isn't the only host who has filled in for the former NFL player in recent shows, with Rebecca Jarvis, who is ABC News' chief business, economics and technology correspondent, taking over co-anchoring duties on Thursday, while Lara Spencer filled in on Friday.
