The Today Show faced another host shake-up on Tuesday as both Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones were away from their usual posts.

Hoda Kotb, who presented alongside Sunday Today star Willie Geist, revealed that Craig was away from the show while reminding viewers of Savannah Guthrie's absence.

As the show returned from an ad break, she said: "Savannah is enjoying a little time off, Craig as well."

Hoda – who had been on vacation last week – explained during Monday's edition of the program that Savannah is currently away for the next few days.

Later on during the 3rd Hour, Dylan Dreyer revealed that Sheinelle was also missing from the hosting desk, with Jill Martin Brooks standing in for the star.

The program has faced several host shake-ups recently with both hosts, Hoda and Savannah, spending time away from the studio at different points over the past few months.

Back in February, Hoda took some time off to care for her youngest daughter, Hope Catherine, who had been in the ICU. The mom-of-two, who was away from her role for almost two weeks, returned to Today in early March, explaining that her daughter had been unwell. "My youngest, Hope, was in the ICU for a few days and in the hospital for a week," she said, adding: "I'm so grateful she's home, she is back home, I was waiting for that day to come, and we are watching her closely."

Meanwhile, Savannah also had to temporarily step away from the hosting desk recently, with replacements Craig and Sheinelle assuring viewers during last Monday's show that she was simply "on assignment".

The 51-year-old was busy interviewing Virginia teacher Abigail Zwerner, who was shot by one of her six-year-old students in January.

Just a few weeks prior, Savannah was forced to leave Studio 1A midway through the broadcast after testing positive for coronavirus. Thankfully, it didn't take the star too long to recover from her third bout of the virus as she reunited with Hoda on the hosting desk the following week.
