American Idol has once again become a staple TV competition show across the country.
The show first premiered back in 2002 and ran up until 2016, and then there was a brief hiatus for two years.
It got revamped in 2018 and has since continued evolving to the show we know and love today, with its judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and its most recent addition of Carrie Underwood, who replaced Katy Perry in 2024.
Each judge brings their own unique singing techniques and career insights and each are heavyweights in their genres.
With their huge knowledge of the industry, comes a huge paycheck, and they surely have impressive ones. It's time to take a look at their jaw-dropping bank statements below.
Carrie Underwood
Carrie joined the show during its 23rd season and the newest judge reportedly earns an impressive $12.5 million for her role on the hit TV competition.
The singer won the show contest as a contestant back in 2005 during its fourth season, and coming back to the show as a judge has been a full circle moment for the country star.
Carrie may not be new to the show's stage, but adapting to her new role came with a learning curve.
She revealed to Entertainment Weekly that it's a lot harder than it looks and said: "It's such a difference when you're sitting at home from your couch watching it. You're like, 'What? That person was great!' Or, 'Oh my gosh, that person was terrible. I can't believe they sent them through.'"
Lionel Richie
Lionel is reportedly the lowest paid of the three judges, although the figure is absolutely nothing to sneeze at, given he pulls in $10 million per season.
The "All Night Long" singer was a surprising choice for the talent show, as he'd arguably been critical of it in the past.
"Was I a fan of these shows? Absolutely not. I was not", he told the New York Times. But his decision to join the panel came from a place of wondering how he could best use the platform.
"For two days a week, Professor Richie is going to talk about the reality of what it takes to be an artist," he said. "Instead of sitting here moaning about how the world has changed since I started, I'm going to tell them what it takes. You think it's just singing? No, it's not. What kind of style do you have? What kind of stamina do you have? How many times can you take 'No?' How many times can you come back? That’s an artist."
Luke Bryan
Luke reportedly earns $12 million per season on the show. The country star has been open about what it's like working on the TV competition, and how he and the other judges have had to toughen up when facing backlash.
"I think when me and Lionel and Katy sit down at the desk, in our hearts, we're doing the best we can", he said.
