The BBC's heartwarming drama Film Club has reportedly been cancelled after one season, leaving fans devastated.
The six-part series, which aired in October last year, was created by and starred Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood as an agoraphobic film lover who is forced to face the truth of her relationship with best friend Noa (Nabhaan Rizwan) when a new job role requires him to move away.
Despite positive reviews from critics and a BAFTA nomination, the series won't be returning for a second outing.
Why has Film Club been cancelled?
According to Deadline, it was a mutual decision between co-creators Aimee and Ralph Davis and the BBC, with the 32-year-old actress keen to "prioritise other writing," while the broadcaster was "relaxed about moving on from the series".

Fan response to Film Club's cancellation
It's safe to say that the news has come as a disappointment to fans. Taking to social media in response, one person wrote: "What? Devastated, man. Film Club was an amazing show," while another added: "I'm sad because it was wonderful."
What have viewers said about the show?
The series, which boasts a 90 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score, has been hailed by viewers as "brilliant," and "perfectly heartfelt television".
One person, who binged-watched all six episodes, hailed the drama as "funny" and "super easy to get hooked on," while another penned on social media: "Film Club is absolutely fantastic! Funny. Sad. And adorably quirky."
What is Film Club about?
The romantic comedy-drama follows Evie, who hasn't left the house in six months due to her agoraphobia. Her escape is her weekly film club, where she and her best friend and fellow cinema enthusiast Noa watch and dissect iconic movies.
The synopsis reads: "It's Friday night. 7pm. Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn’t left the house in six months after a 'wobble', and tonight, things are different. Noa's got big news. A dream job is taking him across the other side of the country, which means that all of this is ending."
It continues: "That reality is hitting. That they're going to be forced to consider for the first time they might be more than just friends. Neither of them are the best when it comes to emotions but this time those emotions might be impossible to ignore."
HELLO!'s TV writer Abby Allen praised the show's "cosy characters, impressive set design and endearing storyline" in her review, which you can read in full here.
Film Club is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
