We're returning to SoHa for another season of the BBC's hit sitcom, Amandaland, which has been renewed for a third outing.

The Motherland spin-off, which stars Lucy Punch, Dame Joanna Lumley and Philippa Dunne, will return with six new episodes.

It comes after the show won the BAFTA for best scripted comedy at Sunday's ceremony.

Director of BBC Comedy, Jon Petrie, made the announcement at the BBC Comedy Festival in Liverpool on Wednesday.

Seb Barwell, BBC Comedy commissioning editor, said: "Amanda and friends continue to capture the hearts of the nation, so we're delighted to announce a third series and to keep up our 'co-lab' with this amazing team."

What is Amandaland about?

The series, hailed as a "masterpiece" by viewers, follows posh, highly-strung mum-of-two Amanda, who is adjusting to life post-divorce, having downsized from a spacious home in Chiswick to a maisonette in Harlesden.

Series two finds Amanda still juggling parenthood with building her online lifestyle brand 'Senuous' and working at Kitchen's Bathrooms and Kitchens.

The synopsis continues: "By mid-series, Amanda's head has been turned by discovering a big house in the area is up for sale. Desperate to own it, she turns to her mother – only to discover that getting Felicity on board financially comes at a price. Her mum may seem evergreen, but is definitely starting to show signs of ageing so maybe living alone is no longer an option…

"Fellow divorcee Mal is still Amanda's basement neighbour and that tiniest of romantic frissons has not disappeared. This series we also meet his ex, no-nonsense Abs, with whom Amanda struggles to connect."

Elsewhere, Mal's unlikely bond with Abs's new husband, JJ, continues, while Fi starts to find her calling as a professional dog walker when Della goes off to work on a cruise.

Of course, Anne is still by Amanda's side as her loyal and long-suffering best friend, as they "navigate the challenges of parenting teenagers - through exams, relationships and, for the season finale, the school prom".

The sitcom is a spin-off of the BBC show, Motherland

Sharing how Amanda has evolved from Motherland to now, leading star Lucy said: "Her change in circumstances has made her realise, finally, that she’s no better than anyone else. In Motherland, her superiority was her ugliest trait.

"Nevertheless, her giant ego and status anxiety remains, so she still wants everyone to think she’s the best," she told the BBC.

Who stars in Amandaland?

Lucy Punch (Bloods, Ella Enchanted) stars as Amanda, alongside Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) as Amanda's mum, Felicity, and Philippa Dunne (Derry Girls) as Anne.

They're joined by Samuel Anderson (Shetland, Gavin & Stacey) as Mal, alongside Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) as Della and Rochenda Sandall (Line of Duty) as Fi.
